Activated upon surfacing of mooring
The Argos Beacon will alert the user of an inadvertent surfacing of oceanographic instrumentation. The user then may track and recover the instrument mooring strings. While on the surface, the mooring is tracked by Service ARGOS. The OML Argos Beacon can save hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost equipment and ship time.

5 year shelf or deployment battery life in quiescent mode
